Privacy Policy

Short version: your plans stay on your devices and in your own iCloud. We never receive them.

Last updated: 8 October 2026 · Applies to the CalenDo app for iPhone, iPad and Mac and to this website.

The essentials

  • No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs.
  • Your tasks and calendars are stored on your device and synced through your own private iCloud. Digilize Agency BV has no access to them.
  • Shared calendars are visible only to the people you invite.
  • Speech recognition and Apple Intelligence run on your device. Audio is never recorded or uploaded.
  • The app only connects to a server other than Apple's if you choose to import from the old CalenDo web app.

1. Who we are

CalenDo is published by Digilize Agency BV, Haarlem, Netherlands (imprint). This notice explains what the CalenDo app and this website do with data. It complements the Digilize privacy policy, which covers the company, its other websites and services, and your rights in general. Questions about CalenDo and privacy: dev@digilize.agency.

We built CalenDo so that we don't need to process your personal data at all. Where this notice describes data that we do receive (for example, an email you send us), Digilize Agency BV is the controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What CalenDo stores, and where

CalenDo stores what you put into it: tasks (title, notes, emoji, colour, day, time, duration, repeat rule, checklist items, place, reminder settings, completion), your calendars and their category labels, and your settings (such as theme, first day of the week, the daily summary time and the name you enter under Settings › You).

This data lives in a database on your device, inside a container shared only between the CalenDo app and its own widgets on that device. Nothing is stored on servers run by us. We do not have servers for the app.

3. iCloud sync

If you're signed in to iCloud, CalenDo syncs your data between your devices using Apple's CloudKit, in the private database of your iCloud account. A few settings sync through iCloud key-value storage. Apple stores and processes this data as your iCloud provider, under Apple's Privacy Policy, and encrypts it in transit and at rest.

As the developer, we cannot read, export or change anything in your private iCloud database. If you aren't signed in to iCloud, your data simply stays on the device.

4. Shared calendars

You can share a calendar with other people using Apple's iCloud sharing (CloudKit sharing). Only people you invite can join; the share link doesn't work for anyone else. Everyone in a shared calendar can see its tasks, and people with permission can add, change and complete them. Participants see each other's names as provided by iCloud, and tasks you add show the name you entered under Settings › You.

A shared calendar stays in the owner's iCloud; participants access it through iCloud. The owner can stop sharing and remove people at any time, and participants can leave. This sharing happens entirely between your iCloud accounts; we are not involved and can't see shared calendars.

5. Voice brain dump and Apple Intelligence

When you use the voice brain dump, CalenDo asks for access to the microphone and to speech recognition. Your speech is transcribed on your device with Apple's speech frameworks (SpeechAnalyzer, or SFSpeechRecognizer with on-device recognition required). The audio isn't recorded, saved or sent anywhere. On first use, your device may download Apple's speech model for your language from Apple.

To turn text into tasks (from the brain dump, quick add or for the daily summary), CalenDo uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models (Apple Intelligence) on supported devices, and its own built-in rules otherwise. Both run on your device; the text isn't sent to us or to any AI service.

6. Apple Calendar events

If you turn on calendar events, CalenDo asks for access to your calendars so it can show your Apple Calendar events next to your tasks. iOS and macOS ask for full access, but CalenDo only reads events to display them. It never creates, changes or deletes events, and it doesn't copy them into its database or into iCloud. Which calendars you hide is remembered on that device only. You can withdraw access at any time in your device's Settings under Privacy & Security › Calendars.

7. Notifications, widgets, Siri and Spotlight

  • Notifications (task reminders and the optional daily summary) are scheduled locally on your device. We don't run a push notification server. iCloud uses Apple's push service in the background to tell your devices that synced data changed.
  • Widgets, Controls and Live Activities (such as the focus timer) read your tasks from the shared container on your device.
  • Siri, Shortcuts and Spotlight: CalenDo tells the system about your tasks so you can find them in Spotlight and use them in Siri and Shortcuts. Apple handles this on your device under its own privacy terms.

8. Import from CalenDo Web (optional)

CalenDo started as a web app at calen-do.de. If you used it, you can move your data over with Settings › Import from CalenDo Web. This is the only feature in which the app contacts a server other than Apple's, and only when you start it:

  • The app connects directly over HTTPS to the web app's backend, which is hosted with Supabase (supabase.co).
  • It sends the email address and password you type in, to sign in to your web account. They're used only for this sign-in and aren't saved by the app.
  • With the resulting session, it reads your personal tasks, the shared calendars you own and the tasks in those calendars. It doesn't write or delete anything on the web service.
  • The imported tasks are then stored in CalenDo like any others: on your device and in your iCloud.

The legal basis is your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Data you still keep in the web app is covered by the web app's own privacy policy.

9. No analytics, ads or tracking

CalenDo contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code and no third-party SDKs. It uses a few open-source libraries for its local database and iCloud sync (Point-Free's SQLiteData and GRDB); they run on your device and don't contact anyone. We don't build profiles, we don't sell data and we don't track you across apps or websites.

10. Crash reports and App Store data

If you allow it in your device's settings ("Share with App Developers"), Apple sends us crash reports and diagnostics. Apple collects them, they don't identify you, and you can switch this off at any time. Apple also gives us aggregated App Store statistics such as download numbers. When you download CalenDo, Apple processes your purchase under its own privacy policy. If you take part in a TestFlight beta, Apple shares the feedback you send and the email you were invited with.

11. When you email us

If you write to dev@digilize.agency, we use your email address and message to answer you (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR: helping you is our legitimate interest). We delete the conversation once it's resolved, unless we have to keep it for legal reasons.

12. This website

This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no external fonts or scripts. It runs on a server operated by Digilize. When you visit, the web server processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and keep them secure, and keeps it briefly in server logs (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

13. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can access, correct and delete your personal data, restrict or object to its processing, and ask for a copy. You can also complain to a supervisory authority, such as the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. The Digilize privacy policy explains these rights in full.

Because we don't hold your app data, you exercise most of these rights directly in the app and in iCloud (see below). For anything we do hold, like emails, just write to us.

14. Deleting your data

  • Delete tasks or whole calendars in the app; the deletion syncs to your other devices.
  • To remove everything from iCloud: on iPhone or iPad, open Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage (or Storage) › CalenDo and delete its data. On a Mac, go to System Settings › [your name] › iCloud.
  • Deleting the app removes its data from that device.

15. Changes

If CalenDo starts handling data differently, we'll update this policy and the date at the top before the change ships.
